Accidental Meetings

I had just finished date number three with Jeremy and we were standing in foyer for my apartment building saying goodbye, Jeremy had softly placed his lips against mine and I wrapped my arms around his neck.

When he pulled he had a smile on his face, “I had fun tonight”

“I did too Jeremy, I’m glad I was able to make some time for you this week. I’m sorry work has been so busy”

“Its fine, I completely understand”

“Do you want to come upstairs?” I asked and his eyes went wide with shock but it was only for a second before he recovered.

“Please don’t take this the wrong way but I don’t want to have sex with you right now” I was a little taken back not realising that was how my question came across.

“That’s not what I’m meant and I’m sorry if you took it that way, I just thought the night was still early you can come up have a drink and we can continue to talk?”

“Oh of course,” he smiled as he pulled away and linked his fingers with mine and I lead him towards the elevator so we could head upstairs.

“Make yourself at home” I spoke as we entered the apartment and from judging the look on his face, he was shocked at the size of it, hell I was shocked when Spencer first brought me up here.

“This place is amazing and the view is beautiful”

“Thank you, what would you like do drink? There may be some beer in the fridge if you’re lucky otherwise there is wine or whiskey?” I questioned as I entered the kitchen but Jeremy was still looking out the window.

“Beer is fine if you have it” I walked over to the fridge assuming Alec had left some in here and it was his own fault but it was when I closed the door after grabbing a bottle of wine and a beer that I heard the front door. I placed everything on the bench and rushed to the door to prevent Alec from entering.

“Go away Alec” I hissed through the open door.

“Let me in Dri, it’s Friday night I thought we had a deal”

“Don’t care I’m living here, go away” I hissed back but he was stronger and was able to push on the door causing me to stumble back.

“You’re dressed nicely” he narrowed his eyes at me.

“Dri is everything alright?” I heard Jeremy call out and it was then Alec’s demeanour changed.

“I see how it is” Alec spat at me just as Jeremy walked closer to us.

“Alec you’re being an idiot”

“I’m being an idiot? What about Spencer? Does he even know?”

“Are you kidding me? It was his idea! You obviously don’t know anything otherwise you wouldn’t be like this”

“I doubt he would approve you bringing strangers up here to have sex with them in his bed!”

“Who said anything about us having sex?” I yelled at him, he shook his head before turning around and leaving the apartment, slamming the door behind him. I calmed myself before turning around and seeing Jeremy standing there completely confused.

“I’m sorry about that” I finally spoke hoping this wouldn’t be the end

“Who’s Spencer?” I was glad to see he wasn’t angry, he was just confused.

“My ex, his company moved him to London to set up the new branch there. We decided it would be better for us to break up since we didn’t know how long he was going to be gone and the last time we tried long distance it almost destroyed us both”

“Fair enough and that guy would be?”

“Alec, Spencer’s best friend”

“Hence his reaction to me being here, speaking of which he mentioned something about us having sex in his bed”

“Yes well this would Spencer’s apartment and I know just how weird that sounds but there is so much more to it that I don’t want to exactly get into but I will say this. If this, whatever this is went anywhere I would have told you about Spencer and what exactly was going on”

“Is that why Emery suggested the double date?”

“It is, she had a feeling I might not agree otherwise”

“I see, now how about that beer?” I was glad to see that Jeremy wasn’t annoyed, freaked out or anything else because what I just told him could have caused any guy to go running for the hills.

Just as I climbed into bed after Jeremy had left my phone had rang, I looked at the caller id and my stomach dropped.

  1. I know it's a sweet apartment, but the baggage re: Ghost of Spencer Present is a little too much if she actually wants to move on with her life while he's gone.

    1. Yes there is baggage with the apartment but at this point in time it's something that Dri isn't thinking about because she doesn't want to move on with her life, she wants Spencer to come home.
