Surprise Visits

“So wait you’re telling me that Harvey pulled Nathan off you and threw him out of your office before calling security?” Emery spoke, a little shocked at what I just told her.

“And then you stood there completely shocked and did absolutely nothing?” Sutton finished.

The incident with Nathan in my office was a couple of days ago and I had both Emery and Sutton over for pizza and wine while I filled them in on the latest issues with Nathan.

“Yes, I had gone to Harvey to ask him for some advice on the whole restraining order thing and I told him briefly what happened in school”

“What is Harvey doing now?” Sutton questioned from the kitchen while she was grabbing a second bottle of wine.

“He got the restraining order put back in place but since it’s been so long since the first one it’s only a temporary one for a couple of weeks, if Nathan tries to contact me or does anything else it will get extended”

“Well let’s hope the prick stuffs up again” Emery spoke and she was right, it was how the first one got extended.

Nathan didn’t follow the rules that had been in place, he had turned up at my house with flowers hoping I would forgive him but then things turned nasty and I had to call the cops.

“What did Spencer say about this Dri?” Sutton questioned

I was quiet at first, not too sure how to tell them Spencer’s reaction, he was completely and utterly furious when he found out what happened in my office.

“Dri you did tell him, he will be annoyed if you didn’t tell him” Sutton raised an eyebrow at me but I just waved her off while grabbing the bottle of wine.

“Don’t be silly, of course I told him. I had no choice after you told Alex what happened at the restaurant”

“I really am sorry about that, I didn’t think Alex would have told Spencer”

“Yeah well I’m assuming Spencer told all the boys about the deal with Nathan in hopes of someone keeping an eye on me” I shouldn’t have had that tone with her and I knew she didn’t mean it but I was still annoyed.

“The boys at work don’t know Dri, I think it might just be Alec and Alex and I don’t really speak to Nik, Spencer was that connection” Emery spoke and I was that little bit grateful.

When I was in the kitchen putting away the empty glasses and plates I heard someone at the door, I turned around and stared at the girls.

“Did you tell anyone else about tonight?” I hissed them but they shook their heads, I had heard from Sutton that the boys had plans to hit a sports bar tonight so Alec wouldn’t randomly turn up and the fact that I had told him I was having the girls over.

Just as the door opened I grabbed one of the knives from the knife block and faced the door and was shocked when I noticed it was Spencer, “what the hell Spencer!” I yelled as I placed the knife on the counter.

“That’s the hello I get?” Spencer looked confused and hurt at me yelling at him

“You scared the absolute shit out of us!” he looked at me and then at the girls

“I’m really sorry, I didn’t mean too”

“Yes well now we know it’s not a burglar coming to kill us, I think we should be going” Emery spoke as she stood up and placed the empty bottles on the bench.

“Exactly it was good seeing you Spencer” Sutton gave us both a smile as her and Emery left us alone in the apartment.

“What are you doing here Spencer?” I gave him a huge smile, as much as I was incredibly happy to see him I was also confused. I didn’t think he would get much time to come out here

“I wanted to check on you, I was worried” he stepped closer to me wrapping his arm around me pulling me close to him and he kissed the top of my head.

“A phone call would have sufficed”

“Not after what happened in your office”

“Spence…” I pulled away and looked up at him.

“I was worried alright, I know you’ve got the restraining order in place for a bit but I wanted to make sure you are alright and now that Nathan knows where you work…”

“But security know who he is, they won’t let him in the building”

“Fine what about when you are leaving? He could stake the building out” I shook my head at him and completely pulled away before heading over to the couch and taking a seat in the corner and it didn’t take long for him to join me.

“Spencer, calm down. You are overreacting, I will be fine and you will lose your job if you stay out here too long” Spencer gave me a smile as he reached over grabbed my foot

“I know, I’m only allowed out here a couple of days do you have a problem with me staying here?” he had begun rubbing my foot and I instantly snuck into the couch.

“Nope not at all, especially as long as this keeps up” I replied completely relaxed.

“Maybe you could take a couple of days off as well and we could spend the time in here by ourselves”

“Can’t, we’re swamped at work. I’m actually surprised I had tonight off” Spencer had stopped rubbing my feet, I opened my eyes and looked at him and did not like the look on his face.

Spencer had gripped both of my ankles and pulled me further down the couch before climbing on top of me.

“Spencer we shouldn’t do this…” I spoke quietly and he shook his head at me

“Are you seeing anyone else?” he whispered before placing a soft kiss beside my ear

“No but it will just make things harder when you have to leave”

“It’s going to be hard anyway” Spencer spoke and when I didn’t give him a reply he took it as a hint that I wasn’t going to object anymore and he began placing more kisses along my neck.

Run Ins

Work was quiet for once and I didn’t like it, all the junior and senior partners only had small cases and didn’t really need my help and could rely on the associates allowing me to have a bit more free time to catch up on old paperwork. But the truth was that we all knew what this was, it was the calm before the storm. We have had these moments before, there were only small cases but then all of a sudden we were thrown cases that required all of us to spend countless hours at the office working and I was not looking forward to it.

I was sitting at a local restaurant on my lunch break, normally I just ordered in and ate in my office or the conference room with Wendy and Henrietta one of the other assistants but Wendy had called in sick and Henrietta was busy screening Arthur’s calls for him while he was out on personal matters, meaning he was having an affair again.

I heard someone slip into the seat across me at my table and I looked up my tablet and noticed Nathan sitting there, I instantly tensed up hoping he wouldn’t do anything. Looking around I knew there was a couple of the associates in here but if they knew me I didn’t know.

“Adrianna, you look lovely today”

“Cut it Nathan, what are you doing here?” I snapped at him, I was really getting tired of him

“Having lunch before my interview, I figured you would be at work. I didn’t take you as one to skip out and have lunch somewhere else”

“Why do you care?”

“What no ‘where is my interview’ and ‘what is it for’?” I raised an eyebrow at him before signalling the waitress.

“Yes?” the waitress spoke.

“I’d like to change my order to go, I need to head back to the office”

“Of course, since you are heading back are you able to bring Harvey his order instead of me having to send one of the bus boys?”

I flashed the waitress a smile, “Of course. Has anyone else made an order today?” this restaurant was a well-known lunch order place for the firm, most days people ordered from here.

“No just yourself and Harvey”

“Very well” the waitress left and I turned to look at Nathan who just looked plain confused, I gathered my things before speaking. “You obviously don’t belong around this part of town if you are that confused”

“I didn’t think restaurants like these did take-out”

“They don’t but when your work place spends enough money they are willing to send someone along with the orders” I snapped at him before standing up and heading over to collect mine and Harvey’s orders and heading back to the firm.

I entered Harvey’s office and placed his lunch on the desk, “Well I must say, you are better looking than the usual busboy I have bringing me my lunch” Harvey flashed me a smile and I shook my head, he was such a flirt.

“Yes well someone joined me at the table and I decided to come back here instead”

“Very well, listen I’m having a meeting in about an hour and I would like you to attend”

“Of course, I will see you then” I gave him a smile as I turned and left heading towards my own office to eat my lunch.

I entered the conference room having no idea what this meeting was about, for all I knew it was about a new case and Harvey wanted me in from the beginning but when I walked in saw that Harvey was introducing himself to Nathan I stopped short, this couldn’t be true. How the hell did he get into Law school?

“Ah there you are, Nathan this is Adrianna Innocenti one of our paralegals and she will be sitting in on this interview” Nathan turned around looked at me with this huge smile on his face but I just stared at Harvey.

“Harvey could we have a word outside?”

“Of course, we will be just a minute Nathan” Harvey spoke before following me outside and as soon as the door was shut the smile fell from his face. “What was that about? I’ve never seen you look so startled in your life”

I didn’t speak at first, I looked through the glass walls and found Nathan watching us both with curiosity, I shook my head before looking at Harvey. “Remember when I asked about the restraining order and sexual assault charges?”

“Don’t tell me it’s him, come on Adrianna he had one of the better resumes out of all the associates. We need a new one yesterday”

“I know this Harvey but I can’t work with him, I refuse too and I could just as easily find a new firm” I threatened knowing him and the rest of the senior partners wouldn’t want to lose me.

“Fine, if I refuse to hire him I need you to tell me everything that happened with him so I can give the board members a reason as to why I didn’t hire the better associate” Harvey threatened and I knew I had no way out of this and I eventually agreed.

“Deal but I’m not going in there for the interview”

“I didn’t expect you too, I will come find you later” I nodded at him before turning around and heading back to my office hoping that Harvey stuck to his word.

I was sitting in my office with the door shut and I was looking out the windows down on the street watching all the tourists run up and down, I remember being exactly like them when I first arrived where as now, I knew my way around and didn’t have to worry about getting lost.

I heard my door open and I spun my chair around to only find Nathan standing there, he had a sneer on his face and he locked the door. We were in the process of refurbishing all of the offices so they had glass walls and doors and since I was just a paralegal, mine was the last one and hence no one could see what was about to happen.

“What the hell did you say Adrianna, my interview turned to shit?”

“Oh I’m sorry you had a bad interview but that hasn’t got anything to do with me, maybe you just weren’t right for the job” Nathan rushed towards me and I quickly stood and pressed my back against the windows, Nathan stopped when he was directly in front of me.

“No I have a feeling you are spreading more of your lies about me and I didn’t get the job because of it, Harvey came back in and wasn’t anywhere near as friendly as he was before you walked in”

“That isn’t my problem Nathan”

“It is your problem, I have to grow up dealing with your lies hanging over my head and when I have the chance at the best job, you are the reason it gets thrown away” he had his body pressed against mine and I felt his breath on my neck and all I wanted was to get away from him, I didn’t like being this close to him.

“You need to move” I said sternly

“Why, I remember how your body reacts to mine, I remember how much you loved having my body pressed against yours and right now you are telling me the same thing” his hand trailed up my side grazing my breast and I wanted to push him away but I couldn’t, he was stronger then.

“You need to leave now” I threatened but he didn’t move, instead he placed a sloppy kiss against my lips while his hand cupped my breast. All I managed to do was turn my head and witness the door being opened.

Accidental Sightings

So I've been stuck at home the last few days and been able to get ahead in my writing so keep an eye out for new posts over the next couple of days.

Moving

It had been a couple of days since Spencer had left and Emery, Sutton, Alec and Alex were helping me move into his apartment, Emery and Sutton were shocked at the size of it. They hadn’t been to Spencer’s apartment before, either we all went out for dinner or we met at my apartment since it was closer to theirs.

“Babe why can’t you move to a different country so I can move into your apartment” Sutton teased Alex and I knew she meant well but I couldn’t handle it, I shot her a glare and she instantly apologised.

“Ignore her Dri, where do you want this box?” Emery spoke and I walked over to check the box.

“Just dump it in the bathroom” I spoke before walking off towards the bedroom, I laid down on the bed and all the tears I was holding finally let out.

I was alone for a couple of minutes before I heard the bedroom door open, I didn’t say anything hoping whoever it was they would go away. “You aren’t alone in this Dri, we are all going to miss him” I looked up and noticed it was Alec that had entered the room.

“But none of you have a crazy ex-boyfriend stalker”

“Yes which is why Spencer requested you moved into his apartment, he did the one thing he could while being in London to make sure you are protected”

“I know Alec and I’m grateful for what he did, but I just don’t want him to be gone” Alec didn’t say anything in return, he just walked over and laid down beside me on the bed.

“I know Dri, I don’t want him gone either but he had no choice and for all we know he will only be gone a couple of months like last time” I turned my head and looked at him not realising just how close he was to me.

“Doubtful, he said something about how they aren’t as organised as last time. Why does he have to be so good at his job” I whined and Alec just laughed at me as the door opened again, we both looked up and found both Emery and Sutton standing there with a box each.

“I’ll leave you three alone” Alec gave me a smile as he climbed off the bed and slipped past the girls.

“What’s going on there?” Emery questioned when she placed the box in the wardrobe

“Nothing you and I both know I wouldn’t do that and neither would Alec, it doesn’t matter if Spence and I agreed that we would take things as they are and if we moved on we did but I wouldn’t with Alec. Why don’t you take him Em?” I sat up and laughed at the look on her face, she stuck out her tongue before walking over and taking a seat on the bed.

“Oh god this bed is comfortable” Emery sprawled out on the bed and she right, Spencer’s bed was incredibly comfy, it’s why I had placed mine in his office as a spare bed as a just in case.

I looked over at Sutton and I knew what was going to happen, she had a grin on her face and it wasn’t long until she ran over and joined us on the bed. “Oh god, can I move in here as well? We can share the bed”

“I’m not sharing a bed with you and Alex Sut”

“But maybe a threesome is exactly what you need” Sutton winked at me and I pulled a face at her to show how much I did not like that idea. I did not want a threesome with her and Alex

“No freaking way…” I picked up a pillow and hit her with it which then resulted in a pillow fight between the three of us.

We only stopped when we heard the guys laughing and when we turned around and found them standing there watching us with amusement and Alec had his phone out to record us, I raised an eyebrow at him and he just laughed again. “Oh come Dri, you and I both know that Spencer wouldn’t want to miss this”

“Yes because him seeing a video of the three of us having a pillow on his bed won’t give him any ideas”

“Oh you’re right, maybe I should keep this for myself” Alec winked at me and I heard the girls scoff

“You wouldn’t” I threatened before jumping off the bed and chasing him around the apartment

It wasn’t until we were in the kitchen on either side of the island bench that we were at a standstill, he had his phone in his hands and a mischievous smirk on his face and I did not like it. “Sent” Alec spoke and I stopped dead.

“Seriously? Why would you do that?”

“Come on Dri, he will get a laugh out of it. This is harder for him, all of his friends are here while he is in London by himself” the anger I had fell, how did I not realise that.

“You’re right, how about pizza for dinner? The best pizza place is close by and it delivers” I asked him before going and asking the rest of them who were still in the bedroom.

The next morning I woke up to a message from Spencer,

I’ve only been gone a couple of days and you’ve had people in my bed? I’m a little disappointed I wasn’t there to witness it, I miss you already.

I quickly sent him a reply before getting up and getting ready for my day.
